Fraud Week – Because Fraud Sucks
It’s fraud week!
Yes it’s fraud week.
And like many supporters of fraud prevention, we want to get our word out about how businesses need to be proactive in the fight against fraud.
We’re not going to list a bunch of facts and statistics on how fraud hurts. We’ve already immersed ourselves in all that stuff.
And we already know that fraud kind of sucks!
We’ve seen all the lists, facts and figures over and over again.
We can probably recite them in our sleep.
Fraud is a chapter in any business’s story they didn’t see coming. And one they would probably rather have skipped over, or ripped out altogether.
But it’s there. It exists. And it’s not going away.
And we all know it.

Fraud is a sneaky little (or big) monster that creeps up on many businesses.
And when it finally announces itself…

‘ … dang it, why didn’t we see that coming!’
Why? Because you weren’t looking!
Or because you put too much trust in people and processes. Also – your internal controls may need a wee bit of work.
In an ideal world, every one of us would never misbehave or commit fraud, or other crimes. Then fraud prevention officers and compliance officer would be out of a job.
We know that’s never going to happen.
